1/4/2023 0 Comments Emby client kodiAlso you will always need one client running to keep things updated as well. The SQL thing you always had to worry about the database versions etc especially when you have multiple kodi client versions. In the end, I use emby to manage pretty much everything library related and kodi just to view it all on my TV's. You will also be able to watch it with the emby mobile app and keep the watched status in sync. It is all downloaded to another Emby library that is also sync'd to Kodi. I have one running in a docker that downloads all my subscriptions as well as anything I add to watch later. This just means you may need a video card if your cpu doesn't have a gpu built in that can handle it.įor your youtube, there are a few apps out there that can download youtube subscriptions. If you have the bandwidth you can do direct stream from home otherwise you may need emby to do transcoding for mobile clients. Watched status etc will all sync back to emby as its your central source.įor mobile clients, just use the standard emby client on your phone to watch content. Then utilize embyforkodi addon in kodi to sync the data to your endpoints. I have it running on a server at home all the time. I do something like this with 5 clients and 1 mobile deivce. Has anyone tried both options and settled on one of them? Emby seems like an awesome tool, but extending my existing MySQL instance might be easier to do with less impact on my server PC. I'm hoping I can get some advice about which option would be better for me, and if there is anything I might be missing (such as live transcoding, which I don't think I need). #EMBY CLIENT KODI INSTALL#I already have that MySQL instance but I would have to install an Emby server. #EMBY CLIENT KODI PC#I run an Apache web server on that same media library PC as well as the MySQL instance, so I have the ability to manipulate ports and map URLs to any server behind my LAN firewall (I run pfSense for that BTW). My main goals are sharing of the watched status between all installations, particularly for the Kodi YouTube addon, and availability of my media library, not only on my LAN, but also on my traveling media streamers when I am out of the house. This would require me to install and run a new Emby server on that same media library PC. using an existing MySQL server I already run on the same PC I save my media on, and the Emby for Kodi add-on. I've been looking into ways to share the watched status and libraries between those installations and have narrowed it to two possibilities. I have six active Kodi installations, including two mobile ones which I take with me when I travel.
